In 1887 the Ft. Worth-Denver and the Santa Fe railroads intersected and the Panhandle of Texas started to flourish. Gone were the days of the long cattle drives. The surrounding areas boomed as one of the largest cattle and oil shipping stations in the world.
Sutphen's Bar-B-Que was started in 1950, just outside the gaze of Phillips Petroleum's world largest inland oil refinery (at that time).
The Southwest is rich in tradition and Sutphen's brings that tradition back to you...in Barbecue. We have been operating Family Style Restaurants in Phillips, Borger, and Amarillo since 1950 with combined seating for approximately 640 and banquet facilities for another 320. We are the Barbecue that all others have been measured by in the Panhandle for over 40 years.
